Biography. A hulking and twisted distortion of Spider-Man, Venom is the result of an alien symbiote merged with a human holding a bitter grudge against Peter Parker. This combination has proven nearly lethal to the wall-crawler numerous times.

While Venom has had multiple hosts in comics over the years, the one that we (and the Symbiote) keep coming back to is a man known as Eddie Brock.

venom, the poisonous secretion of an animal, produced by specialized glands that are often associated with spines, teeth, stings, or other piercing devices. The venom apparatus may be primarily for killing or paralyzing prey or may be a purely defensive adaptation.

Though Venom at first enjoyed his newfound immunities, he left after being abandoned during a dangerous mission. After receiving a head wound, Eddie suffers amnesia. He is later separated from the symbiote, which is presumed killed by the government Overreach Committee.

The film was primarily inspired by the comic book miniseries Venom: Lethal Protector (1993) and the story arc "Planet of the Symbiotes" (1995).

Brock took on the name Venom in reference to the sensationalistic material he was forced to traffic in following his fall from grace. Over the years, as the symbiote gained more intelligence and moved to additional human hosts, the name began to apply to the symbiote as well as its hosts.

Venom's symbiote has explained on many occasions that the Klyntar planet is practically devoid of emotions, yet over time he knows that he forms genuine love for Eddie. Venom bonds more with Eddie and experiences guilt, jealousy, and sadness over his other half.

Since Eddie is Venom's primary host, he's usually referred to with “he/him” pronouns, but the Symbiote race overall has no explicit gender. This characteristic has made Venom a haven for non-binary and gender-noncomforming fans. Something that people so often forget is the little “plus” on the end of LGBTQ+ community.

One of the reasons Venom has so many abilities is because of the Klyntar base ability: the power to clone other powers. Venom copies the powers of any host he bonds with. This is why, in the comics, Venom has all of Spider-Man's abilities and can actually block himself from being detected by Spider-Sense.

Lethal Protector The symbiote can change its outer appearance at will. His physiology masks him from Spider-Man's own Spider Sense. Venom is also extremely strong and agile, contributing to its ability to go toe-to-toe with Spider-Man.

In the comics, Anne Weying was bonded with Venom, which led her into becoming She-Venom. She was also married to Eddie Brock, unlike the the movies, where she was engaged with him before breaking up later on.
