Neulasta® is a prescription medicine used to help reduce the chance of infection due to a low white blood cell count, in people with certain types of cancer (non-myeloid), who receive anti-cancer medicines (chemotherapy) that can cause fever and low white blood cell count.

Your doctor may prescribe Neulasta for you if you have an increased risk for serious infections. This may be the case if you: take a chemotherapy drug that puts you at risk for a serious infection called febrile neutropenia (a low level of white blood cells called neutrophils plus a fever), or.

How it's given: Neulasta can be given as an injection or as a patch applied to your skin. The injection is usually given once during each chemotherapy cycle, at least 24 hours after the last dose of chemotherapy in the cycle and 14 days before the first dose of chemotherapy in the next cycle.
