After the climactic battle with Shredder, they bring the running joke back when Splinter suggests the famous phrase. The brothers all exclaim "Cowabunga!" at the same time, and fans loved it.

The Turtles use "heck" and especially "shell" as a euphemism; phrases such as "oh, shell" and "what the shell". Raph almost swears in the "Beyond the Known Universe" episode, but Donnie stops him.

Unlike past incarnations, Mikey does not say his famous "Cowabunga" catchphrase, but instead says "BOOYAKASHA!" He usually does this when accomplishing something or attacking an enemy.
