Jack Daniel's Bonded is Jack's time-honored recipe of 80% corn, 12% malted barley, and 8% rye. Barrels were hand selected for their unique and particular characteristics of deeper color, flavor, and aroma, which bring a darker, richer, and more oak-forward character to Jack Daniel's Bonded.

According to the company's press release, “Each expression is distilled in Lynchburg, Tennessee, in the same distilling season, aged to the stipulations of the Bottled in Bond Act, then blended and bottled at 100 proof.” Jack Daniel's Bonded is the same mashbill as their standard Old No.

The bottled-in-bond designation mandates that brands clear numerous rigorous hurdles. The spirit must be aged for at least four years and bottled at precisely 100 proof (50% abv). It must be made by one distiller at a single distillery in one season, then aged in a bonded warehouse.

And no detail was more important than his mash bill, the delicate mix of grains that help shape our whiskey's flavor. Jack Daniel chose a well-considered recipe of 80% corn, 12% barley and 8% rye that we still use today. Using only No. 1 quality grade corn gives the mash an inviting sweetness.

Tastes more like the usual Jack Daniel's, but an elevated, more complex and interesting, version. Med-long -> Roasted corn, caramel, baking spice and a light candy sweetness.

Nose: Light with plenty of sweetness. There are hints of dry spice and oily nuts, a touch of smoke. Palate: Quite smooth and soft with notes of banana milkshake, a mixed nut note, a touch of caramel with crème anglaise. Finish: Sweet with a little cereal sweetness and toasty oak.

2018 Released in 2018, the whiskeys pay homage to the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, a consumer protection law that protected the integrity of American spirits. The act also mandated that any whiskey Bottled in Bond should come out exactly at a big, bold 100 proof, with no additives other than clean, filtered water.

2022 Jack Daniel's threw us a 700mL bonded whiskey in May of 2022. The world went crazy for it that year apparently, with Whiskey Advocate calling it their "whiskey of the year".

It starts to turn brown slowly. The sugar in flavors. And the color changes on the surface of the marshmallow. The heads of the barrels are assembled. And cut to size. And their chard as well heads.

The taste. The smell doesn't jump out; you have to find it. Once you do, it is a fragrant hint caramel orange candy. The vanilla pops on your tongue with touches of pipe tobacco before the rye kick starts the finish. The familiar pepper spice is short-lived before the vanilla and smooth leather fade away.
