It's typically applied a few times a day: first thing in the morning, after a bowel movement, and right before you go to bed at night. Lidocaine works quickly and most people who use it start to feel better within an hour.

Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.

These treatments do not cure piles but they can help with the pain and itching. Lidocaine treatments for piles come as creams, ointments, sprays and suppositories.

For pain and itching from hemorrhoids or minor skin conditions: Adults - Apply a thin film to the affected area two or three times a day. Children - Use and dose must be determined by your doctor.

Do not use more often or for a longer time than recommended. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days, if bleeding/worsening pain occurs, or if you think you may have a serious medical problem, consult your doctor promptly.

Prescription lidocaine transdermal is applied only once a day as needed for pain. Never apply more than 3 of the lidocaine 5% patch or lidocaine 1.8% topical systems at one time, and never wear them for more than 12 hours per day (12 hours on and 12 hours off).

Lidocaine is an anesthetic cream. It prevents and treats pain caused by some procedures. It can also treat minor burns, scrapes and insect bites. When you use this cream you'll lose feeling in your skin or other tissues.

Redness, burning, or itching at the application site may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.

It's best not to use these treatments for more than 7 days and not to repeat these treatments too often.
