In 1932, brothers Michael and Pierre van Melle take a train journey to Poland which sparks the beginning of a Fresh New World. They have heard of an exciting recipe for soft fruit caramels. Mentos production moved to Rotterdam. International orders to France, Germany and the UK marked the beginning of the New Freshness spreading across the world.

How it Works: As the Mentos sinks to the bottom of the soda, it causes the quick production of carbon dioxide bubbles. These rising carbon dioxide bubbles react with more carbon dioxide still in the soda causing it to release as well. The pressure builds up and then creates the eruption or geyser of soda.
