The cast of Scream VI includes both familiar faces and some new additions. Neve Campbell will reprise her role as Sidney, and other returning stars include Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and David Arquette as Dewey Riley. The movie will also introduce a fresh batch of actors, including Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, and Jack Quaid.

The rest of the box office does. “Scream VI,” a Paramount and Spyglass co-production, looks to spook off “Creed III” for the top slot at the domestic box office. The self-branded slasher “requel” grossed $19.3 million from 3,675 locations on its opening day, a figure that includes $5.7 million in previews.

The MPAA rating has been assigned for “strong bloody violence and language throughout, and brief drug use.” The Kids-In-Mind.com evaluation includes an implied sex scene, a few kissing scenes, a reference to date rape, many scenes of people being stabbed frantically and repeatedly and finally slashed across the chest ...

At the end of Scream 6, Detective Bailey, Quinn Bailey, and Ethan Landry revealed themselves as killers. Their motive was that Richie was Detective Bailey's son, and Quinn and Ethan were his siblings.

Scream VI will see Sam and Tara Carpenter attempt to leave Ghostface behind by moving to New York City, along with twins Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin. Unsurprisingly, it doesn't go to plan when they're targeted by a Ghostface super fan.

Scream VI has been released – but, sadly for fans, it's the first one without Neve Campbell. Campbell, who had played Sidney Prescott in every Scream film to date, announced in June 2021 she had quit the sixth instalment as she wasn't getting paid what she thought she deserved.

Scream 6 followed Sam and Tara Carpenter to New York City with their friends Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin, and Ghostface followed too. Detective Bailey, Quinn Bailey, and Ethan Landry were the main Ghostface killers, and they were after Sam for killing the detective's son, Richie Kirsch, in Scream 5.

Though Scream 6 has proven the franchise will continue to evolve for the next generation, this newest installment also references previous movies. There are some obvious callbacks to the previous films, such as Sam Carpenter's connection to her father, Billy Loomis.

But don't be lulled by the star power and satire: The violence here is brutal, intense, and gory. Though the thrilling pace, high school drama, and steady jolts will likely keep young audiences watching, this movie is best for older teens and adults.

"Scream VI" is officially rated R for strong bloody violence and language throughout, and brief drug use.

"We digitally removed some of the stabbing," added Vanderbilt. "But the guys always overshoot the violence to be able to, to pull it back or dial it up and add it, which I think is super smart."

For a little while, it seems like Ghostface has succeeded in killing another character in Scream 6. Sam and Tara are scared, horrified, and worried that Gale is gone. Thankfully, Gale survives, although of course now she has even more trauma to work through after dealing with Ghostface yet another time.

Campbell hasn't ultimately said goodbye to Sidney and the Scream movies, so if the studio agrees to pay her fairly, it's likely she would return as a character for Scream 7.
