Malt liquor Malt liquor is the alcohol in this beverage, and for those unfamiliar with the alcohol, it is similar to beer because it's made from malted barley. Malt liquor is fairly similar to beer, but in the case of Seagram's Jamaican Me Happy, it's a flavored malt liquor.

Genesee Brewing Several brands of coolers are produced under the Seagram name as of 2022: Seagram's Escapes are produced by Genesee Brewing for the American market, while Seagram Island Time is produced by Waterloo Brewing for the Canadian market.

Seagram's Escapes are a particularly strong example of this. Clocking in at a mere 3.2% alcohol by volume, the drink feels confused and busy rather than light and refreshing.

While most Seagram's Escapes have a malt base, Seagram's Escapes does produce a limited number of wine-based products in some states due to state regulation.

Our vodka begins with grain proudly grown in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky, and processed in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. At our Lawrenceburg distillery, the grain is grinded, or “mashed”, and goes through batch fermentation, which results in enough fermented mash to run the first distillation charge.

Seagram Distillers History. The Seagram company name was first founded in 1857 in Waterloo, Ontario, as Joseph E. Seagram Co Ltd. More than half a century later in 1928, the firm was acquired by Montreal-based Distillers Corporation Ltd, owned by the Bronfman brothers, who grew the business into an international name.
