Where do Chocolate Diamonds® come from? Apart from several brown, caramel and champagne-colored diamond mining sites in Brazil, Angola, the Congo and Borneo, most brown diamonds and other similarly-colored stones originate from the Argyle Diamond Mine located in Northwestern Australia.

You can pick chocolate diamonds in brown color in natural and lab-grown diamonds. A natural diamond has more price than a lab diamond, even in the same clarity, carats, color, and cut grades. If you want a genuine chocolate diamond it will need to be purchased from Le Vian. On mine producer Rio Tinto's C1-C7 brown diamond color scale, a stone must be at least C4 to qualify as chocolate color. They also need to be at least SI clarity grade.

Using cold water is a much simpler and safer way to test the validity of a diamond. If you place the stone into water, a real diamond will sink to the bottom due to the density. Fake diamonds are far more likely to float or bobble around.
