A machete (/məˈʃɛti/; Spanish pronunciation: [maˈtʃete]) is a broad blade used either as an agricultural implement similar to an axe, or in combat like a long-bladed knife. The blade is typically 30 to 45 centimetres (12 to 18 in) long and usually under 3 millimetres (1⁄8 in) thick.

Isador Cortez, primarily known under the alias of Machete, is the name of two fictional characters who are featured in the Spy Kids and Machete films (the latter of which is also featured in a fake trailer in Grindhouse). Both versions of the character are played by Danny Trejo.

Machetes are also known as cutlasses in the English-speaking Caribbean. Machetes are commonly used both in agriculture and also as weapons. A common agricultural use for the machete, other than cutting through undergrowth, is cutting sugar cane.

In the right spirit it is a great movie. I would describe Machete as 'popcorn entertainment'. It's corny (intentionally and unabashedly), cheap, funny, and pretty violent too. Basically, if you have time on your hands and you would like to entertain yourself with a lot of brainless action, then, watch away.

The machete is a large knife or sword with a broad, heavy blade that is typically used for chopping or cutting through dense vegetation. It is believed to have originated in South America, where it was used by indigenous people for a variety of tasks including farming, hunting, and warfare.

Foraging Tool: A machete makes it easier to collect the materials needed to build a shelter. Use a machete to clear away overgrowth from tree branches and shave away the bark. Machetes can even be utilized like an ax to fell entire trees.

Despite its Spanish word origin, the first major industrial manufacturers of machetes were English and American. English machete makers did their briskest business in the regions under the Empire's control: Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, British Guiana, and Grenada.
