3. Press the Home key to return to the home screen.

Use the Settings menu. Select the "Settings" icon from the Android phone's home screen. Select "Sound Settings," then clear the "Silent Mode" check box.

quieted sound Something muted has a softened tone or quieted sound. When you try to listen through the wall at what someone is saying, it's really muted and mumbly, even if you put a glass to your ear.

If sound keeps being muted, perhaps your system volume has been set to Mute unknowingly. More likely, either the internal microphone or the external one has been disabled - which would prevent sound from coming through that device. Other improper sound settings can have a similar effect.

Normally, the volume buttons should control the sound you're listening to, but that's usually not the case on all Android phones. If you still can't hear sounds, we recommend you go to Settings > Sounds and manually increase the volume using the sliders.

Android has many types of apps and certain apps come with their own sound settings. In these apps, you can enable and disable sounds for various activities. If you have turned off the sounds option in these apps, that may be why you cannot play the sound through the speakers while you are using these apps.

Muffled hearing can occur in one or both ears. When the condition occurs in one ear, it's likely a sign of a single-sided ear infection, a clogged ear or earwax buildup. Muffled hearing due to sinus infections or changes in pressure while flying or changing altitudes typically occurs in both ears.

If any of them are muted, you'll see a red circle with a line through it next to the volume control. In that case, select the volume control to unmute. Check your device properties to make sure that your devices have not been disabled by mistake. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound .

When you mute the TV or computer speakers, all of the sound goes quiet, but something described as muted is just toned down or turned down. When you whisper you speak in a muted voice; it's not completely quiet or no one would hear you, but it's quiet enough to muffle the sounds or secrets you share.

The simplest and most convenient method to use when your speakers are not working is to reboot your android device. This is helpful in case there are apps and other processing that are causing interference with the speakers. Most of the issues are fixed by just turning your phone off and then back on.

Check to make sure that your phone has not been accidentally muted. If the sound is not loud enough during a call, try maximising the volume to the highest level. During a call, press the Volume up button on the side of your phone or you can test the sound from the Settings menu on your device.
