Omnipod DASH has recently launched a new TV spot entitled 'Simplify Insulin Delivery,' aimed at showcasing the simplicity and convenience of their insulin delivery system. The commercial opens with the woman waking up in the morning and sighing as she reaches for her insulin kit. The frustration is evident on her face as she fumbles with the syringe, drawing the attention of her colleagues.

Frequently Asked Questions about omnipod dash tv spot, 'simplify insulin delivery'

The Pod includes a small, flexible cannula that inserts automatically with the push of a button. The Pod delivers precise, personalized doses of insulin into your body based on the set and variable rates that you program into a handheld Personal Diabetes Manager (PDM).

Omnipod 5 delivers a microbolus of insulin every 5 minutes to reduce blood glucose using the user's customized Target Glucose of 110-150mg/dL.

So the biggest difference between the dash and the omnipod. 5 is that the omnipod 5 now integrates with the Dexcom sensor. So the dash is not a closed loop system meaning.

The heart of Omnipod® is a small, wearable Pod which can deliver up to 72 hours of continuous insulin. The Pod is controlled by a sleek Personal Diabetes Manager (PDM) which makes it simple to manage everyday tasks like carbohydrate counting, bolus doses and more.

Omnipod provides non-stop insulin delivery through a tubeless, waterproof* insulin pump called a Pod - all with no multiple daily injections. Get up to 3 days (72 hours) of continuous insulin delivery and freedom with these innovative features: Wearable: Place the Pod almost anywhere you'd normally inject.

The Pod has built in SmartAdjust ™ technology and every 5 minutes, the system automatically increases, decreases, or pauses insulin delivery based on your customized Target Glucose.

An eye to the future: The Omnipod 5 SmartAdjust™ technology predicts trends 60 minutes out and automatically adjusts insulin delivery using the users set glucose target, helping to protect against highs and lows2 during the day and while you're sleeping.

Omnipod® System also features a Suggested Bolus Calculator to help you deliver an accurate bolus dose. The calculator uses your current blood glucose, carbs entered, and your insulin on board (IOB) to determine a suggested bolus dose.

Under the Omnipod NDSS Subsidy, eligible persons can access the Omnipod DASH® System from $168.27/month without private health insurance (PHI) or for around $30/month if accessing through PHI.

Once the pod has been primed and then is attached to the body with its adhesive, the Start button on the PDM can be pressed, causing a stainless steel needle to be deployed. It is in and out in 1/200 of a second! Once it retracts, a tiny soft cannula stays in place under the skin to allow for insulin delivery.

While using Omnipod, I also experienced a “pod failure” - which is an expected part of using any type of insulin pump. Pod failures are essentially when the infusion site - or another part of the insulin pump system - fails, and you need to replace the pod.
