Spot, often mistaken for a "critter," is first seen getting captured by a trap set up by Arlo's father, Poppa Henry for constantly raiding and eating the family's stockpile of corn for the winter in the silo.

Family is valued above all else, even great friendship. Courage is an important theme. Fear is normal and healthy, but it shouldn't get in the way of living your life; you can get through it to see the beauty on the other side. Kindness, loyalty, encouragement, and resourcefulness are all important.

We don't recommend The Good Dinosaur for children under 7 years, and we do recommend parental guidance for children aged 7-9 years. This is because the movie has several upsetting and scary scenes and themes, which include the deaths of family members and characters being separated from their families.

Admiring the film's landscapes and scenery, without the characters, might actually be the best way to admire Pixar's latest movie. The sprawling vistas were even based on real-world environments that were scanned by Pixar's team and painstakingly turned into what you see in the final film.

The Town of Dinosaur was originally named Artesia, but town fathers renamed it in 1966 to capitalize on its proximity to Dinosaur National Monument, and they haven't looked back! Dinosaur has 300 residents and two motels for overnight stays, making it an excellent base camp for full days of exploration of the monument.

Courage, Bravery and Conquering our Fears: are a central theme in the movie. As our Dino faces different moments and fights his battles it will be clear that we can all do it if we can! It is time to be fierce, overcome and prevail! Friendship: This connects so well with all the anti-bullying campaigns going around.

The main conflict is Arlo's inner journey to embracing his fear, while his outer conflict revolves around getting home. His relationship with Spot is actually entirely ancillary to the main conflict.

Dr. Johnathon Ohnn Brilliant research scientist Dr. Johnathon Ohnn attempts to replicate teleportation powers, but winds up accessing a different dimension associated with the Darkforce. Gaining the ability to travel by way of portals, he becomes the Super Villain known as the Spot.

Arlo protects Spot as they go over the falls, and carries him to shore. As they near Arlo's home, the two are approached by the caveman and his entire family, who show great interest in Spot. With great reluctance, Arlo pushes Spot to join this new adoptive family, and the two of them share a tearful goodbye.
