Zulu Alpha Kilo stands out as a maverick global indie agency within the fiercely competitive advertising industry dominated by global holding companies.

Zulu Alpha Kilo was founded by Zak Mroueh, one of Canada's best known creative directors in 2008. In 2017, Ad Age selected Zulu as its International Small Agency of the Year, for the second consecutive year, and, last year as runner-up.

The project is called “Splash Spots,” and it involves a redesign of the hydrant cap to reduce water flow by a further 50% - while creating four different kinds of water sprays to delight the kids who are often first in line for a cooldown.

I believe I read or heard somewhere that Thomas said in an interview that he came up with it because he heard pilots saying “Alpha Zulu” on a rather rough flight, and it almost sounded bad like “mayday mayday” to him, which is a pilot code for disaster.
