Mexico Our first mascot and friend, Gansito™, came out of the Marinela plant in Mexico in 1957 when Alfonso Velasco, one of the founders of Bimbo®, designed him. The Gansito snack cake was one of the first three individually wrapped snack cakes produced by Marinela and it soon became the favorite.

1954 The first such snack cakes - spatula-made, US-style, round and simple, undecorated - were tested in 1954, in a mere three flavors: orange, strawberry and chocolate.

Marinela Gansito snacks, like all Marinela cookies, originate from Mexico. These favorite snack cakes are distributed by Bimbo® Bakeries from Pennsylvania. However, they are the same recipe that was made famous by the Marinela baking group in Mexico.

Marinela's founders from the Bimbo company wondered if they could bake loads of fine cakes for everyone to enjoy anytime they wanted to, and this precise thought led them to create their famous bakery in 1954, with the name of Pabisa.
