AndroGel 1.62% is indicated for replacement therapy in males for conditions associated with a deficiency or absence of endogenous testosterone: Primary hypogonadism (congenital or acquired) (1)

It is used for hormone replacement in men who are not able to produce enough testosterone (for example, due to hypogonadism). This medication is absorbed through the skin, enters your bloodstream, and helps your body reach normal testosterone levels.

AndroGel (testosterone gel) 1.62% for topical use only, is available as follows: • A metered-dose pump. Each pump actuation delivers 20.25 mg of testosterone in 1.25 g of gel. A unit dose packet containing 20.25 mg of testosterone in 1.25 g of gel.

Apply AndroGel® 1% to a clean, dry, intact skin of the shoulders, upper arms, or abdomen (stomach), unless your doctor tells you to use it on another part of your body. AndroGel® 1.62% should only be applied to a clean, dry intact skin of the shoulders and upper arms.

The most common side effects of AndroGel 1.62% include increased prostate specific antigen (a test used to screen for prostate cancer), mood swings, high blood pressure, increased red blood cell count, and skin irritation where the gel is applied.

At the starting dose, the new AndroGel 1.62% contains 40.5 mg of testosterone in two pump presses, whereas AndroGel 1% contains 50 mg of testosterone in four pump presses. Dosage and administration for AndroGel 1.62% differs from AndroGel 1% and the two are not interchangeable.

ANDROGEL 16.2 mg/g, gel is used in adult men to replace testosterone, in order to treat various health problems due to a lack of testosterone (male hypogonadism).

Results. Effects on sexual interest appear after 3 weeks plateauing at 6 weeks, with no further increments expected beyond. Changes in erections/ejaculations may require up to 6 months. Effects on quality of life manifest within 3–4 weeks, but maximum benefits take longer.

Results: Following titration, significantly (P < 0.0001) more subjects receiving active treatment had testosterone C(av) values (range 81.6% to 82.5%) within the eugonadal range compared with placebo (range 28.6% to 37.0%) on all study days. The 1.62% gel was safe and well tolerated.

Applying AndroGel 1.62%

1. PUMP. Whether you are using pump or packet, make sure your shoulders and upper arms are clean and dry and that there is no broken skin.
2. APPLY. Rub the gel onto upper arms and shoulders – areas that are normally covered by a short-sleeve T-shirt.
3. WASH.
4. COVER.

Is 1 ml of testosterone a week enough to build muscle? A typical dosage is 100mg per week, but you can also get results with a higher dose. If you want to try 400mg or 600mg, starting slowly and building up over time is essential.
