What Is the 2022 GMC Terrain? The GMC Terrain is a compact SUV that seats five. It has a standard 170-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that works with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available.

The AT4 trim available on the Sierra Heavy Duty trucks, adds skid plates, off-road suspension with Rancho shocks, an off-road mode, the MultiPro tailgate, and a camera system to make towing easier.

The AT4 trim stands for All-Terrain 4WD, and was first available on the GMC Sierra 1500. Now you'll find many GMC vehicles with the available AT4 trim, including the GMC Canyon, GMC Acadia, GMC Yukon, and GMC Terrain.

The GMC Terrain has a comfortable interior and easy-to-use technology features. But a weak base engine, unresponsive transmission and bouncy ride, along with a high price, keep the Terrain from standing out in the small SUV class.
