After teasing a name change from IHOP to IHOb - including a dramatic flipping of the “p” in their logo to a “b” - the company formerly known as the International House of Pancakes reveled their new name as the International House of Burgers.

1958 IHOP has had burgers on its menu since it first opened in 1958, but its identity has long been tied to its wide variety of pancakes and breakfast offerings. Revamping its burger selection could convince customers to visit later in the day and for more than just hash browns and eggs.

A steak burger is made from either sirloin or ribeye. A hamburger is made from ground cuts from the bitt. The steak burger is made from higher quality meat that tends to be leaner, yet more flavorful and they're always more expensive because of it.

"Everyone knows that IHOP makes world-famous pancakes, so we felt like the best way to convince them that we are as serious about our new line of Ultimate Steakburgers as we are about our pancakes was to change our name to IHOb," said Brad Haley, chief marketing officer for IHOb restaurants, said in a statement.

IHOP's four-wall profits over the past few years have served steady, especially measured against other casual brands, including Applebee's, because its food and labor costs are lower. Comparing the first half of 2019 to the same period of 2018, IHOP franchisees actually had higher margins, CFO Thomas Song said.
