Monopoly is a real-estate board game for two to eight players. The player's goal is to remain financially solvent while forcing opponents into bankruptcy by buying and developing pieces of property. Bankruptcy results in elimination from the game. The last player remaining on the board is the winner.

Each player is given $1500 in cash divided as follows: two each of $500's, $100's, and $50's; six $20's; five each of $10's, $5's, and $1's. All remaining cash and other equipment go to the Bank.

It's more than simply a game of chance and strategy; it's also strikingly analogous to our real-world economy. Monopoly players go through economic events including property purchases, rent payments, taxes, and even bankruptcy, making it a fascinating microcosm of our actual financial system.

the Landlord's Game Monopoly, arguably the most-famous board game, was for a long time attributed to Charles Darrow but the original idea was that of Lizzie Magie, a Quaker and the creator of the Landlord's Game, which bears striking resemblance to its more-popular successor.

Like any other board game, monopoly requires some patience, logic and intelligence to win. It also requires players to count money at hand.

The most expensive Monopoly set ever made was encrusted with rubies and sapphires. It was put together by San Francisco jeweler Sidney Mobell in 1988. With solid gold houses and hotels, and diamonds in the dice for pips, this game was worth $2 million.

Monopoly Lifesized is a fast-paced, physical game requiring participants to move around the board completing escape room style challenges. Each player will be on their feet for the duration of the game (approx. 75 mins). We welcome all to join the fun, at your own discretion.

In terms of events that happen to you in the game, they are not at all like real life. For example: If you stop at another player's property you have to pay rent (they're not living there!)

The Monopoly board game originated during the Great Depression. At first its inventor, Charles Darrow, could not interest manufacturers. Parker Brothers turned the game down, citing “52 design errors.” But Darrow produced his own copies of the game, and Parker Brothers finally bought Monopoly.
