1963-1991 JEEP® WAGONEER (SJ) In 1962, the Jeep® Brand introduced the Wagoneer - the father of all luxury 4x4 SUVs. Replacing the Willys utility wagon lines, the Wagoneer was designed to provide passenger-car styling, comfort, and convenience with the advantages of four-wheel drive (4WD).

The original Wagoneer premiered in 1963, but was discontinued in 1991 for a 30-year time-out. Now, the all-new 2022 Jeep Wagoneer has returned to shake up the large luxury SUV class with a vengeance, impressing drivers with everything from its exterior style to its powertrain.

All three series come equipped with a robust 5.7L V8 gas engine, generating 392 horsepower. They all feature an 8-speed automatic transmission, but the Series 1 stands out with its four-wheel drive, while the Series 2 and 3 offer rear-wheel drive​.
