The current core team of the Skylanders is known as Team Spyro, being the primary group to answer to missions in nearby regions, both to defend others from evil acts, or offer a variety of services. The group is formed by newly graduated Skylanders, Spyro, Stealth Elf and Eruptor, and by veterans Jet-Vac and Pop Fizz.
Life is the only element with plant-based Skylanders, who comprise almost half of its total amount. Animal-based Skylanders in the element include elves, apes and other mammals, as well as insects and a mushroom. Its two dragons are both hybrids, Camo being part plant and High Five being part insect.
As with previous Skylanders games, characters are unlocked for on-screen play when a toy figurine is placed on the portal peripheral. The starter pack provides the required (new) portal for Trap Team along with two toy characters and two traps.
