Mostly was just because of how badly Zero-g aka shogun steel failed in Japan. Ratings of the anime were so bad that the last few episodes weren't even aired.
It isn't as good as the previous 3 seasons were but it's still pretty decent for what it is. What I think is off is that it feels like maybe there should have been another season or so of character development.
