Two childhood friends, Pernell Cezar Jr. and Rod Johnson, founded the business as a social impact brand focused on supporting under-resourced youth with coffee sales as the catalyst.

Bold coffees are often affiliated with dark roasts which tend to exhibit an intensity of roasty, carbony, and smoky flavors. The term “bold” is also used by most coffee professionals to describe a coffee that has a higher strength due to a lower coffee-to-water brewing ratio (more grounds, less water).

The clearest definition of what a “strong” coffee is the one from the SCA: a cup with a high percentage of total dissolved solids.

BLK is the new app for Black single men and Black single women with a simple mission: To create an exclusive community where Black men and Black women can find meaningful connections with people who share similar likes and interests.

Cezar Jr. started BLK & Bold Specialty Beverages with his childhood best friend, Rod Johnson. The two lived on the same street growing up and joke that they have an executive team that's been working together for over 20 years.

Des Moines, Iowa In 2018 the pair founded BLK and Bold selling coffee and tea out of their headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa. BLK & Bold is the Countries first black owned nationally distributed coffee brand, and they've partnered with many companies including our parent company Canteen.

Bold Feature This increases the amount of time the water is in contact with the grounds and enhances extraction. This results in great extraction and more dissolved solids in the coffee and makes it bolder tasting.
