San Jose Chiapa We travelled to Mexico, home of the 2018 Audi Q5, which is built at a completely new assembly plant in San Jose Chiapa. Launching a new plant is always quite a challenge, especially when it's the automaker's first in North America.

Second generation (Typ 80A; 2017)

Engine, Transmission, and Performance All Q5s feature a 252-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and Quattro all-wheel drive. The combination was good for a 5.8-second run from zero to 60 mph in our testing.

In the body-in-white of the Q5 – without doors, lids or sheet metal skin –, form-hardened steels make up 9.1 percent of the total weight. 3.3 percent comprises ultra-high-strength steels, 12.3 percent advanced high-strength grades, 44.5 percent high-strength steels and 30.8 percent deep-drawn steels.
