deus ex machina, (Latin: “god from the machine”) a person or thing that appears or is introduced into a situation suddenly and unexpectedly and provides an artificial or contrived solution to an apparently insoluble difficulty.

There's quite a lot of interesting messages regarding the future of artificial intelligence which has been explained by others. However what I believe is one of the most profound messages in exmachina is how pride can create such mayhem, and the importance of how information is framed.

Ex Machina can certainly be understood as an allegory of patriarchy as well as the history of feminism that still fights against the confinement, violation, mutilation, and general oppression of women.

A24's horror films elevate the genre through their character performances, grotesque layers, social commentary, and twisted stories.

In 2013, A24 released its first film, A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III. Later that year saw the release of Spring Breakers, the Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, and James Franco movie about college kids on a spring break trip that gets out of hand.

Human-machine interaction and trust As the narrative unfolds, the film raises profound questions about trust, deception, and the blurred lines between human and machine. It challenges us to ponder the nature of our own humanity and how our perceptions might be manipulated by advanced technology.

US success A few weeks later, A24 expanded nationwide, with the release peaking at 2,000 screens and Ex Machina becoming a sleeper hit.

The dance scene in Garland's Ex Machina is the most interesting scene in the movie and the best portrayal of Hegel's Master-Slave dialectic in centuries.
