The Maxus II is made at Fábrica De Armas E Artigos De Desporto, S.A. in Viana, Portugal, which has produced Browning guns for more than 30 years.

2009 Browning introduced the original Maxus shotgun in 2009 as the company's new flagship autoloading 12-gauge.

FN Herstal Nearly all of John Browning's innovative designs have been manufactured under license by other companies, including Winchester, Colt, Remington, FN Herstal, and Miroku. Browning is currently a wholly owned subsidiary of FN Herstal.

Today, a significant level of design work is still done by the Browning R&D team in Herstal, in the Liege region of Belgium. But only a few Browning firearms are considered "Made in Belgium." This includes some custom guns (above) and the Browning BAR centerfire rifle.

Browning is the inventor of the semi-automatic shotgun, over-and-under shotgun, semi-automatic rifle and, most recently, an over-and-under gun with the lowest action frame and fastest firing system on the market.

Maxus

Recoil guns have a reputation for kicking harder than gas guns, and here the nod goes to the Maxus, which in my opinion is slightly softer shooting. However, post-shoot cleanup is much easier with the A5, since there isn't a piston to deal with.

The brand Maxus originates from the LDV Maxus model of the defunct British commercial vehicle manufacturer LDV Group, following the acquisition of LDV's intellectual property by SAIC in 2010.

SAIC Maxus is a division of SAIC (Shanghai Automobile and Industrial Corporation), the largest automotive manufacturer in China. A Fortune Global 500 company, SAIC sold almost 6 million vehicles in 2015 and has formed joint ventures with Volkswagen and General Motors.

Manufacturing is done in various factories in Belgium, Portugal, Italy, Japan, and Utah. Its sporting catalogs include rifles, shotguns, pistols, knives, fishing rods and reels, outdoor clothing, and golf equipment.

As it states on the Browning website, “the legendary solidity and reliability of Browning firearms are largely due to their successfully passing all these tests.” As David mentioned, even Browning's entry-level offering, the B525 Game One, comes with a 10 year warranty on the action frame.
