The Snow Queen FROZEN is an original story, loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen's “The Snow Queen.” Published in 1845, “The Snow Queen” begins when a magic mirror created by trolls shatters, causing pieces of it to lodge in the heart and eye of a boy named Kai.

While Frozen takes place in the fictional kingdom Arendelle, the kingdom was based on multiple locations in Norway. The team behind Frozen even visited Norway to gain inspiration, and you can see Nordic influence all throughout the movie.

Set three years after the events of the first film "Frozen , from 2013" , the story follows Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven, who embark on a journey beyond their kingdom of Arendelle in order to discover the origin of Elsa's magical powers and save their kingdom after a mysterious voice calls out to Elsa.

The Northuldra are loosely based on the Sámi people, whom Disney consulted as a result of an agreement between The Walt Disney Company, the transnational Saami Council, and the Sámi parliaments of Finland, Norway and Sweden.

- It lays out the main themes of the movie: Jen Lee has said that where Frozen is a story about love through the lens of fear, Frozen 2 is about love through the lens of change. Change is literally the central theme of the entire narrative.

What sets Elsa apart from the mass array of Disney princesses is her inner battle with mental illness, anxiety and depression. In Frozen II, Elsa is the only person who can hear a voice but everyone couldn't.

The Frozen movies drew inspiration from the customs and traditions of the indigenous Sami people of Northern Europe. Norway's reindeer herding Sami population has ancient traditions and a strong heritage which Disney wanted to pay homage to.

When the newly crowned Queen Elsa accidentally uses her power to turn things into ice to curse her home in infinite winter, her sister Anna teams up with a mountain man, his playful reindeer, and a snowman to change the weather condition.

Climactic Moment: When she sees Elsa about to be killed by Hans, Anna forgoes her true love's kiss from Kristoff and sacrifices her life to save her sister. Resolution: Anna's sacrifice, her “act of true love” for Elsa, thaws the ice in her heart, and she returns to life.

The name of the Northuldra is derived from "huldra" or "hulder", a Norse root word meaning "covered" or "secret", reflecting their status as a hidden people living in the Enchanted Forest.

Frozen 2 introduces the Northuldra people, an indigenous tribe with a deep connection to the past of Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel). The record-breaking Frozen sequel introduces The Enchanted Forest to the north of the kingdom of Arendelle, which is being threatened with catastrophe.

It tells the story of two orphaned sisters, Elsa and Anna, who are princesses of the kingdom of Arendelle. Elsa has a magical power that allows her to create snow and ice, but this magic is dangerous to her and the people around her. To protect Anna, Elsa has been avoiding her since they were very young.

Resolution: Anna's sacrifice, her “act of true love” for Elsa, thaws the ice in her heart, and she returns to life. Elsa realizes that love is the key to controlling her magic and is able to unfreeze Arendelle. Hans is deported to his own kingdom.

Perhaps the most obvious message in Frozen is that it's good to be courageous. Elsa fleeing her home to live on her own was bold; Anna following her was even more so. Having a feisty streak can be a very good thing!
