When the Primm family moves to New York City, their young son, Josh, struggles to adapt to his new school and friends. All of that changes when he discovers Lyle, a singing crocodile that loves baths, caviar and great music. Feature film based on the children's book about a crocodile that lives in New York City.

Aimed squarely at children, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is a good-hearted, fun film about the importance of family and believing in oneself. Based on the children's book, the film follows Lyle, a singing crocodile, on a sweet musical journey all the way from their attic and into the heart of the Pimms family.

The film is produced by Hutch Parker and executive produced by Kevin K. Vafi, Dan Wilson, Robert J. Dohrmann, Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, Tarak Ben Ammar and Andy Mitchell. The Sony Pictures film will release in the US on October 7, 2022.

Lyle is an engaging character, Josh is courageous and loyal to Lyle, and the Pimms are a loving family. Also, the song and dance numbers are catchy and fun. However, because of some scary scenes and themes, the film is not suitable for children under 6 years and some slightly older children may need parental guidance.

Shawn Mendes as the voice of Lyle, an anthropomorphic saltwater crocodile who can sing. Before the production, Peter Gabriel, Bryan Adams and Paul Williams auditioned to voice Lyle when Mendes was chosen.

Instead, they brought in an on-set actor, Ben Palacios, to play Lyle. He wore the face of Lyle as well as the tail and appendages of a crocodile. A camera bolted onto his helmet could track his facial expressions.

But there is a happy ending as Hector returns Lyle to the house and family he really belongs to. As the family bring in the Turkish Caviar and have towels with his name on them. And the bubble baths that he really loves and enjoys. Hector thinks he will never make anybody laugh.

Directors Will Speck and Josh Gordon envisioned a slightly idealized look for New York, as the film is a paean to the city and its neighborhoods, as well as the much-loved story.
