"Jack the Giant Killer" is a Cornish fairy tale and legend about a young adult who slays a number of bad giants during King Arthur's reign. The tale is characterised by violence, gore and blood-letting. Giants are prominent in Cornish folklore, Breton mythology and Welsh Bardic lore.

While it borrows from plenty of other better movies that came before it, "Jack the Giant Slayer" is one buffed-up fairy tale movie that works. Even if the prevailing flavorlessness of everything onscreen leaves us feeling somewhat indifferent, Singer's clear-cut presentation must be admired.

The moral of the story is “Life is better with generosity and kindness and not selfishness.” In the given story, the Giant became truly happy only after he became kind to the children and allowed them to play in his garden.
