2018 Jaguar XE models. The 2018 Jaguar XE is available in base (XE), Premium, Prestige, Portfolio, R-Sport, and S trim levels. The first three trims introduce increasing degrees of luxury, sport and convenience, while the Portfolio is a technology showcase. The R-Sport and S models are high-performance centerpieces.

Last year's 340-hp V-6 engine has been replaced by a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder that puts out 247 hp or 296 hp, depending on the model. All-wheel drive, previously available only with certain powertrains, is now an option no matter which engine you choose.

The XE turned out to be somewhat of a mixed bag when it was featured in our latest reliability survey. Petrol XEs finished in eighth place in the executive car class, but diesels were 24th out of 26. Diesel XEs are almost twice as liable to go wrong as petrols, with a fault rate of 37% (compared with 19% for petrols).

The XE is the first built on the Jaguar Land Rover iQ[Al] (D7a) modular platform, also used for the second generation Jaguar XF (X260) model, the Jaguar F-Pace sports utility vehicle and the Range Rover Velar.

Overview. The XE hit the market for 2017 with a lot of promise: Its good looks and athletic moves had it vying to be our favorite in the small-luxury-sedan segment.

While other all wheel drive systems become active only after the car loses traction, Jaguar's AWD with IDD is predictive. If it calculates that grip will imminently be lost, it pre-emptively shifts torque to the wheels that have better traction to maintain control and composure before it happens.

All-Wheel Drive All-Wheel Drive (AWD) has become an increasingly popular option, and for many it is the deciding factor in their choice of car. From AWD hatchbacks and AWD saloons, to AWD SUVs and AWD sports cars, the range of vehicles that offer it is vast.

The XE adds bigger alloy wheels and automatic emergency braking. Jag's new XE just edges the 3 Series. It's even more fun to drive than its German rival, better equipped and cheaper to run as a company car, so unlike Jaguars of old it makes as much sense to the head as it does the heart.

The Jaguar XE provides an excellent alternative to its German rivals. On the plus side it offers great looks and lots of kit, but be warned - the infotainment is fiddly and the rear seat and boot space is below par.

All Jaguar saloon models have a two-letter name starting with an 'X', and the second letter indicates the model's size – the earlier the letter comes in the alphabet, the smaller the car. The XE is, therefore, smaller than the XF.

Is Jaguar Better than BMW? While both of these automotive brands are impressive, there is no denying the Jaguar offers more features and is more powerful than BMW. So, if you are looking for a high-end luxury vehicle, look no further than the impressive Jaguar.
