Generic Name: acetaminophen This drug is used to treat mild to moderate pain (from headaches, menstrual periods, toothaches, backaches, osteoarthritis, or cold/flu aches and pains) and to reduce fever.

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) and paracetamol (Panadol) are the same pain-relieving medication. In the U.S. and Japan, it is called acetaminophen and paracetamol in Europe and most of the rest of the world. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) and paracetamol (Panadol) are the same medication.

While acetaminophen only works in the brain, ibuprofen works in the brain and the rest of the body. This means acetaminophen only helps reduce pain and fever, while ibuprofen has the added benefit of reducing inflammation and swelling at the site of an injury.
