In the Marvel Universe, the Eternals are an offshoot of humanity known as Homo immortalis which were created one million years ago by the enigmatic alien Celestials to defend Earth with their superhuman powers and abilities.

Plot. In 5000 BC, ten superpowered beings known as Eternals - Ajak, Sersi, Ikaris, Kingo, Sprite, Phastos, Makkari, Druig, Gilgamesh, and Thena - are sent to Earth by Arishem, a Celestial, on the starship Domo. They are charged with exterminating invasive entities known as the Deviants.

Marvel Studios' “Eternals” follows a group of heroes from beyond the stars who had protected the Earth since the dawn of man. When monstrous creatures called the Deviants, long thought lost to history, mysteriously return, the Eternals are forced to reunite in order to defend humanity once again.

The Eternals were sent to Earth to help cultivate humanity and rid the planet of Deviants at the same time.

The Eternals are essentially idealized, humanoid aliens from the planet Olympia, genetically engineered by the godlike Celestials. These particular Eternals were sent to Earth by the Celestials to fight against the evil Deviants and defend humanity, and they've been silently keeping watch for the last 7,000 years.

The point of Eternals was to tell a story about family, breaking apart and coming back together. Not everything has to tie back into the grand overarching storyline. Except they didn't really come back together and were trying to kill each other at the very end.

Though the Eternals are alien beings with their own ways of life, Seri and Ikaris consummate their love in the most human of ways as the pair venture off together in early the film and end up naked on a sandy dune locked in what's best described as perfunctory sexual congress.

Technically, Gilgamesh and Sersi were the first Eternals from Earth to become members of the Avengers. But the first Eternal Avenger was none other than Eros, AKA Starfox. Starfox came to Earth in AVENGERS (1963) #232, and he immediately asked to join the roster.

To stop their rogue creations, the Celestials then created new synthetic beings, the Eternals, sending them across the cosmos to eradicate the Deviants and protect sapient life on the planets seeded with Celestials.

The Ebony Blade - Eternals' biggest mystery - is key to Dane Whitman's future in the MCU as it confirms his transformation into Black Knight, which fans were hoping for when Harington's character was confirmed to be Whitman.

The powers were so inconsistent and the prime eternal was just wasted after not even putting up a fight. The deviants were wasted as well and the celestials not telling the eternals why they're on the planet made no sense. Just so many reasons to dislike the execution of the movie.

The featuring of MCU's first gay couple and first-ever sex scene led to bans in several countries and “Eternals” is currently among entertainment giant's worst received movies. Unfortunately, the film isn't interesting enough to erase these controversies.
