What is Advil® DUAL ACTION and how is it different from regular Advil®? Advil® DUAL ACTION is a combination of ibuprofen (125 mg) and acetaminophen (250 mg) - two distinct mechanisms of action (MOA) working together to fight pain.

Combining ibuprofen and acetaminophen allows you to take a lower daily dose of both while still reaping the same pain-relieving benefits. Advil Dual Action provides eight hours of powerful relief and fights toothaches, backaches, menstrual cramps, muscle pains or minor pains of arthritis.

This medication contains 2 ingredients: ibuprofen and acetaminophen. It is used to relieve pain from various conditions such as headache, dental pain, menstrual cramps, muscle aches, or arthritis.

Fast, long, and strong. Advil® DUAL ACTION has a fast onset of action, provides 8 hours of tough pain relief, and is superior to both ibuprofen 250 mg or acetaminophen 650 mg alone.

It takes about 45 minutes for acetaminophen to start working and about 30 minutes for ibuprofen to start working. So you should feel your pain easing less than an hour after you take Advil Dual Action (acetaminophen / ibuprofen).

Meloxicam is considered a stronger medicine than ibuprofen. Meloxicam is only available on prescription and ibuprofen is available over the counter as well as on prescription. Meloxicam is a long-acting medicine that only needs to be given once a day.

Stop using Advil Dual Action (acetaminophen / ibuprofen) and contact your provider if your pain gets worse or lasts more than 10 days, if you notice any new symptoms, or if you see redness or swelling in the painful area. These might be signs of a more serious condition that needs more medical attention.

Adults and teenagers - 1200 milligrams (mg) up to 3200 mg per day divided into three or four equal doses. Children - Dose is based on body weight and must be determined by your doctor.

All Advil products contain ibuprofen, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). The exception is Advil Dual Action, the first and only FDA approved pain relief medication to combine both acetaminophen and ibuprofen. Some other OTC pain relievers, such as Tylenol, contain acetaminophen.

Ingredients. Active ingredients: Tablet, 125 mg ibuprofen, 250 mg acetaminophen. Non-medicinal ingredients: Carnauba wax, croscarmellose sodium, glyceryl behenate, hypromellose, iron oxides, macrogol 400, pharmaceutical ink, polydextrose, pregelatinized starch, silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide.

Advil Dual Action is the only Advil product that contains Acetaminophen. Advil Dual Action fights pain in two ways: Acetaminophen blocks pain signals while Ibuprofen targets pain at the source.

As you may have guessed from the descriptions above, acetaminophen is best used for fever, aches and pains, but will not be very helpful if the pain is due to inflammation. Ibuprofen is more helpful for these symptoms when inflammation is the cause. Inflammation examples include menstrual cramps and arthritis.
