Melinda and Dennis Evenson established Old Trapper in Tillamook, Oregon in 1969, naming their company for the trappers who once visited the coastal community.

Jerky is made from domesticated animals as well as game animals. Jerky from domesticated animals includes beef, pork, goat and mutton or lamb and game animals such as deer, kudu, springbok, kangaroo, and bison are also used. Recently, other animals such as turkey, salmon, and earthworm have entered the market.

In order to create more variety and demand. There is usually more than one flavor of jerky. And these are created by adding a flavor mixture to the now cooled down jerky.

Trapper is a boy's name of German origin. Taken from the Old German word trappe, which is said to have become a nickname for a “troublemaker” or “rogue,” Trapper is a real charm for any mind of pure mischief.
