It was co-founded in 1986 by Bob Kain, IMG executive, and Scott Hamilton, the 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist in men's figure skating. The production is a theatrical show featuring a small cast of elite skaters who perform together in ensemble as well as solo numbers.

2 hours Stars on Ice does not have flower girls or anyone to pick up items from the ice, so it is NOT permissible to throw things onto the ice at any point during or after the show. The solos were super diverse in music and style, and really high quality. And each of the skaters brought so much joy and such great performances. I was not at all unhappy to see the show three times, and would have happily seen more! It's so good to have Stars on Ice back again.
