Lawrenceburg, Indiana As we've said, Tincup American Whiskey is distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. This process occurs at the MGP Ingredients factory, and the whiskey consists of 65 percent corn, 32 percent rye, and four percent malted barley.

Summer Cocktails With TINCUP

• TINCUP Old Fashioned. Ingredients: 50ml TINCUP whiskey, 5-10ml sugar syrup, 2 dashes of Angostura bitters, Orange twist.
• TINCUP Sazerac. Ingredients: 50ml TINCUP whiskey, 10ml Absinthe, 5-10ml Sugar Syrup, 2 dashes Peychaud bitters, lemon twist.

Tincup American Whiskey is the brainchild of Colorado-based Jess Graber. A distiller as a hobby for 30 years, he turned full-time in 2004. A high rye whiskey, made with a bourbon-style profile but more powerful and spicier, the cap also works as a cup.

Shot in Texas and Arizona but supposedly set in North Carolina for the climactic U.S. Open scenes, it features a robust lineup of cameos from PGA Tour golfers and commentators, from Phil Mickelson to Johnny Miller to Jim Nantz. The movie was filmed in the tiny town of Tubac, Arizona, as well as Kingwood, Texas.

Proximo Aged in new charred American white oak barrels, TINCUP is bottled in Colorado using pure Rocky Mountain water. It is owned and distributed by Proximo and is rolling out in Colorado, Arizona, California, Illinois, New York, Texas, and Washington.

Proximo Spirits Whiskey Specialist Hayley Dixon says: “It's a great sipping whiskey, neat or with a few ice cubes, and also makes a good base for classic cocktails like the Manhattan and the Old Fashioned.”

You're better off sticking the tin cup in the freezer and drinking from that if you want it chilly. Whiskey and Coke: 3.5 – It just feels like it's only bringing the sweetness. You can adjust it a bit, but even then – not a great cocktail. Old Fashioned: 6.5 – Finally a decent cocktail.
