Use and dosage Shake Dulcolax® Laxative Liquid well, immediately before each use. Use convenient pre-measured dose cup for accurate dosing. It's recommended to be taken as a single daily dose or in divided doses with a full glass (8 oz.) of liquid.

For adults and children 12 years and older, take 2 to 4 soft chews daily. For children 6 to under 12 years take 1 to 2 soft chews daily. Chews should be taken with a full glass (8 oz) of liquid. Do not exceed the maximum recommended daily amount.

DULCOLAX is mainly used for the treatment of constipation. Under medical supervision, DULCOLAX can be used for the evacuation of the bowel before a radiological examination or as an enema alternative.

How many tablets can I take? Adults and children 12 years of age and over can take 1 to 3 tablets in a single daily dose for up to 7 days. If this is the first time taking a laxative for constipation, we recommend starting with the lower dose (1 tablet), increasing up to 3 the following days if needed.

Long-term use of DULCOLAX is not recommended. If you use DULCOLAX every day, you should consult with your doctor to find out the cause of your constipation. Long-term and excessive use of DULCOLAX may cause an imbalance of salts in the body (including low potassium), muscle weakness and kidney problems.

You should not take Dulcolax with or immediately after meals. It must be taken on an empty stomach. It is best to take it 1-2 hours before or after having dinner. You should drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine.

Medications for constipation Colace, Dulcolax, Metamucil, MiraLAX Colace, Dulcolax, and Metamucil are generally safe for people with kidney disease. MiraLAX must be taken with a full glass of water, so it is not recommended for people on dialysis who have a fluid restriction.

Use and dosage Dulcolax® Adult 5 mg Gastro-resistant Tablets are best taken at night with a glass of water (swallow - don't chew). Don't take the tablet with other products that reduce the acidity of the upper gastrointestinal tract. This includes milk, antacids and proton pump inhibitors.
