Dulcolax Adult Tablets are used for the short-term relief of occasional constipation. Dulcolax Adult Tablets contain bisacodyl and belong to a group of medicines known as stimulant laxatives, which increase bowel movements.

Dulcolax should be taken as needed to relieve constipation. Adults and children over 10 years: One or two Dulcolax tablets at night. It is recommended to start with the lowest dose.

Dulcolax® Adult 5 mg Gastro-resistant Tablets are best taken at night with a glass of water (swallow - don't chew). Don't take the tablet with other products that reduce the acidity of the upper gastrointestinal tract. This includes milk, antacids and proton pump inhibitors.

You should not take Dulcolax with or immediately after meals. It must be taken on an empty stomach. It is best to take it 1-2 hours before or after having dinner. You should drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine.

Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: nausea/vomiting/diarrhea that doesn't stop, muscle cramps/weakness, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, fainting, decreased urination, mental/mood changes (such as confusion). A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare.

How many Dulcolax® Tablets can I take? Adults and children over 10 years of age can take 1 to 2 tablets in a single daily dose. It is suggested to take the tablets within 30 to 60 minutes before your normal bedtime to produce a bowel movement the next morning. Children 6-10 years can take one tablet at night.

How many tablets can I take? Adults and children 12 years of age and over can take 1 to 3 tablets in a single daily dose for up to 7 days. If this is the first time taking a laxative for constipation, we recommend starting with the lower dose (1 tablet), increasing up to 3 the following days if needed.

Stimulant laxatives are usually taken on an empty stomach for rapid effect. Results are slowed if taken with food. Many stimulant laxatives (but not castor oil) are often taken at bedtime to produce results the next morning (although some may require 24 hours or more).

Long-term and excessive use of DULCOLAX may cause an imbalance of salts in the body (including low potassium), muscle weakness and kidney problems.

The recommended fose for adults 12 years and older, including breastfeeding women is 1-2 tablets per day. Children 6 to 12 years of age is 1 tablet per day.
