The drugs help you breathe by relaxing muscles in your airways and helping them stay open. Both drugs are also approved to reduce the number of COPD flare-ups that people have.

Using Breo Ellipta can increase your risk of infection. If your immune system is weakened or you already have a higher risk of infection, this drug can raise your risk even more. If you have an infection or symptoms of infection before you start using Breo Ellipta, talk with your doctor.

Using Breo may increase your risk of oral thrush or esophageal thrush. These fungal infections occur in your mouth or throat. In clinical studies, up to 5 percent of people with COPD and 2 percent of people with asthma who took Breo had oral or esophageal thrush.

If Breo is effective and safe for you, you'll probably use this drug long term. Breo is typically used long term to treat COPD, and to prevent asthma attacks in adults with asthma.
