Brussels The Audi Q4 E-tron. Audi is using Brussels as an overflow factory in addition to parent Volkswagen Group's EV factory in Zwickau, Germany. The Q4 E-tron is built in Zwickau alongside its MEB platform siblings the VW ID3, ID4, ID5 and Cupra Born.

The 2023 Audi Q4 e-tron starts at $49,800 for the entry-level Premium model with the single-motor powertrain. That's one of the lowest base prices in the luxury electric SUV segment. Base models with the dual-motor powertrain have a starting price of $55,200. Both versions are equipped with lots of features.

According to the official EPA data, the Combined range of the entry-level Audi Q4 40 e-tron is 265 miles (426 km), which is noticeably more than in the case of the AWD versions. The Audi Q4 50 e-tron (AWD) has an EPA range of 236 miles (380 km).

Despite measuring 3.6 inches shorter in length and 2.3 inches shorter in wheelbase than an Audi Q5, the electric Q4s' front and rear legroom are within an inch of their larger sibling.

While the Q4 e-tron sports the modern vibe we've come to expect from Audi, it doesn't really stand out from its EV competition. It's not the quickest, most comfortable or most efficient choice in the class. But it's also vice-free, making it an easy EV to drive and live with.

The fully electric compact model is the first electric SUV to be produced by Audi in Germany.

Audi and its joint venture partner FAW are building an EV plant in China that will produce models based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) from the end of 2024. Models based on this platform include the Audi A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron.

The battery of the Audi Q4 e-tron 40 has a total capacity of 82 kWh. The usable capacity is 76.6 kWh. An estimated range of about 250 miles is achievable on a fully charged battery.

The entry-level electric Audi features a better interface than the ID. 4, but it comes up short of the luxury hallmarks intended to make it feel a class above. I tested the $54,495 Q4 50 that upgrades from standard rear-wheel drive to a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup.
