Make sure this ghost screen is set to 'Extended Display'. Then in your Remote Monitor app on your main computer/laptop, select your second 'ghost' monitor in the drop down menu at the top right and VOILA! you will see your ghost monitor extended onto the Surface Screen.

I would like to connect my Nintendo switch to my surface as a external monitor, is this possible? Yes. The drawback with these is that there is lag and may not be very good for gameplay so I wouldn't recommend this approach.

Connect to a screen wirelessly (casting)

1. On your Surface, select action center in the taskbar or swipe in from the right edge of the screen.
2. Select Connect. In the list of displays and adapters, select the name of the wireless display or adapter that you want to connect to.

When you're ready, here's how to set it up:

1. Plug one end of the video cable into the port on the external screen. Make sure that your TV, monitor, or projector is turned on.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the video adapter.
3. Connect the adapter to your Surface.

On the Surface tablet, download and install the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter app. It's free on the Microsoft Store. Connect the HDMI end of the Microsoft Wireless Adapter into an HDMI port on the TV. Connect the USB end of the adapter into a USB charging port on the TV.
