Disney Infinity 2.0 is split up into two game modes: Playset and Toybox (referred in Disney Infinity 2.0 as Toybox 2.0.) In Playset mode, players can play open world multiple story modes based specifically on a certain franchise. Each Playset spans from 6–10 hours in length.

2016 was the year Disney killed off its Infinity series when it decided it wasn't making quite enough money. A subsequent report blamed mismanagement and inflated sales expectations.

It is overall the fourth Disney Infinity game and the first game in the series since the third game in 2015. The game will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, & PC on August 15, 2022. This game marks Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox in 2019.

While the console versions of Disney Infinity may still be available for download and playable, there are no plans for future updates and active product support is no longer provided. *Disney Infinity for Nintendo Wii and Disney Infinity 2.0 and 3.0 for Wii U have now been retired.

Disney Infinity 2.0 is a really fun game. Swinging around new york or fighting a guy in a robot suit it is always fun! Unplayable for small children. You cannot use the extra figures you buy in game (I got a race car and groot).
