Origins. The team's origins are traced back to the end of 1988 when Jackie Stewart's son Paul set up Paul Stewart Racing, having bought the Gary Evans Motorsport Team. This team entered the 1989 British Formula 3 season with a workforce of 10 employees.

Throughout his racing career, Stewart has won racing titles in Indy, midget, sprint, and USAC Silver Crown cars. He is the only driver in history to win a championship in both IndyCar and NASCAR. Stewart became known for his hot temper and for his sarcasm with the media.

His most widely-known titles are the three he scored in the NASCAR Cup Series. Stewart earned his first crown in 2002 by beating veteran racer Mark Martin by 38 points, a second in 2005 when he bested Greg Biffle by 35 points, and a third in 2011 when he outdueled Carl Edwards by virtue of a tiebreaker.

In all, Stewart won a total of 62 NASCAR races, 49 of which were in the Cup Series. Stewart also won 11 races in the Busch Series (later Nationwide Series) and 2 in the Craftsman Truck Series.

He owns the F1 record for career race victories and is tied with Michael Schumacher for the most drivers' championships (seven). In 2008 he became the first Black driver to win the F1 world drivers' championship. Hamilton began his driving career when he was eight years old.

In his inaugural season, Hamilton set numerous records as he finished runner-up to Kimi Räikkönen by one point. The following season, he won his maiden title in dramatic fashion - making a crucial overtake on the last lap of the last race of the season - to become the then-youngest ever Formula One World Champion.
