The most common side effects of Differin

• Unpleasant sensations (burning, stinging, tingling, and/or itchiness)

Differin Gel treats acne vulgaris, a chronic inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous unit, which contains the hair follicle and sebaceous gland. Acne may be caused by a variety of reasons, including: Higher oil production. Having oily skin doesn't mean you'll have acne.

This medication is used to treat acne. It may decrease the number and severity of acne pimples and promote quick healing of pimples that do develop. Adapalene belongs to a class of medications called retinoids. It works by affecting the growth of cells and decreasing swelling and inflammation.

Adults and children 12 years of age and older: use once daily. Clean the skin gently and pat dry before applying the product. Cover the entire affected area with a thin layer. For example, if your acne is on the face, apply the product to the entire face.

Initially, you should use the medicine every other night for the first two or three weeks. If you are tolerating the medicine OK then move up to every night. If you are getting too much irritation, then use it every 3rd night. Your goal is to eventually work up to using Differin every night.

Differin® Gel should not be used in conjunction with products containing alpha hydroxy, salicylic or glycolic acids, which may worsen irritation. Irritation may occur if using more than one topical acne product at a time. Do not use wax to remove unwanted hair in areas where the product has been applied.

Differin® Gel is still doing its job to reduce acne-causing clogs, so it's important to keep using it daily. You could start to see a reduction in acne after two weeks of treatment.

Whether you get Differin as a gel or a cream, it should be applied to the affected area daily as long as you continue to suffer from acne. If your acne completely clears up, you can stop the treatment, but be aware that your acne may return at some point.

Differin® Gel is a safe and effective treatment. However, as with any medication, it's a good idea to check with your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding.

How often should I use Differin® Gel? Differin® Gel should be used only once daily and integrated as an important step into your morning or evening skincare routine. Try to apply the product at the same time each day.

This treatment speeds up the regeneration process of the skin, which may help reduce the appearance of scars. This cream/gel can also prevent future breakouts, which in turn leads to reduced numbers of scars. Avoid popping your spots, as this can worsen the problem and create scars.

Absolutely not. It's a common, temporary reaction that will usually subside after about 4 weeks of use. Use of Differin® Gel should not be discontinued, but be sure to always use it just once daily. Try a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturizer, like Differin Soothing Moisturizer, to help manage irritation.
