So-called clinical-strength antiperspirants contain the highest amount of sweat-controlling ingredients of any products available over the counter. They come with instructions that they be applied before bed for "maximum" protection from wetness and odor.

If you prefer products that only block odors (not sweat), application time makes no difference. But if your deodorant has antiperspirants in it, you should apply it at night. At night, your body temperature drops, which means you sweat less.

Clinical strength deodorants (which are technically antiperspirants) work because they contain higher levels of the aluminum-based, active ingredients that are found in traditional formulas. These form a plug that blocks the sweat duct to prevent sweat from escaping.
