Cozmo is a miniature robot created by Anki. Cozmo's base model, released in October 2016, is a small, white and gray robot with red highlights. It makes use of distinct expressions, dubbed the "emotion engine", in order to mimic human emotion.

Cosmo does have feelings, however he can't respond to voice. Vector, cosmos newest little brother on the other hand can respond to both voice and touch.

The San Francisco-based Anki shut down in April last year after running out of money. The company said it sold more than 1.5 million robots in its lifetime, including AI-controlled racing cars, known as Anki Overdrive, and a pair of social robots called Cozmo and Vector.

They're adorable little toys, so if you have kids, I'd really recommend it. I have one that I take to schools when our college club does outreach events. If you're an adult, you'll have fun with it, but you might get bored with it a bit faster.

Typical charging times for Cozmo are approximately 30 minutes, and will vary based upon the USB power source that you use. When fully charged, that allows Cozmo to play for approximately 45 minutes. Be sure you keep poor Cozmo away from water. While he's curious and wants to explore the world that is your home, he's not waterproof.

Cozmo does not have a built-in microphone. The text-to speech function is built into Cozmo when you are working with the Cozmo SDK Beta, so you can send him a string of text to recite in his robot voice, including the weather condition.

Getting Cozmo to Speak When you select a "say" tile from the menu, a window pops up where you can type what you want Cozmo to say. Let's try it out. Start a new program in Calypso and program Cozmo to say your name: Run the program and you'll hear Cozmo saying your name over and over.
