Elsa, princess of Arendelle and heiress to the throne, is born with the ability to create and control ice and snow. As a child, she uses her abilities to create a winter wonderland to play in with her younger sister and best friend, Princess Anna.

It's later revealed in Frozen 2 that the king and queen were traveling to Ahtohallan, a magical glacier in the north, and Frozen's sequel again confirms that Anna and Elsa's parents died at sea.

Since the union of Agnarr and Iduna ultimately embodies the balance that could be achieved between civilization and nature, the spirits then blessed their first-born child Elsa with the powers of the fifth spirit to help further that cause.

The doll recited phrases from the movie Frozen and sang “Let It Go” when a button on its necklace was pressed. “For two years it did that in English,” mother Emily Madonia said. “In 2015, it started doing it alternating between Spanish and English. There wasn't a button that changed these, it was just random."

Elsa sings “Let It Go” from her place of isolation. She's frustrated at the way she's been forced to hide what she is capable of and, over the course of the song, resolves to accept her powers rather than live in fear of them.

In creating Elsa's voice, they had to consider her strengths and weaknesses, her journey of self-discovery, and her relationship with her sister Anna. The agency had to find a voice that could capture the complexity of her character and bring her to life in a way that resonated with audiences.
