All our tuna is wild caught in the Pacific or Atlantic Ocean. The majority of our tuna is produced in American Samoa (which is a territory of the United States), Ecuador or Senegal. A few of our products are manufactured in Thailand.

Tuna are remarkable and impressive wild animals. The Atlantic bluefin can reach ten feet in length and weigh as much as 2,000 pounds (more than a horse). Their specialized body shape, fins, and scales enable some species of tuna to swim as fast as 43 miles per hour. Tuna swim incredible distances as they migrate.

All StarKist Tuna is well below FDA's 1ppm. We follow a robust testing policy in all of our plants and can assure you that StarKist Tuna is safe to eat and falls well below FDA's stringent requirements.

The 65-year old StarKist brand has two processing facilities in Ecuador in addition to the one just inspected in American Samoa. Mercury content of canned tuna frequently comes up as a food safety issue. The problem is that mercury can accumulate in the body.
