Boston Lager Remastered still uses Founder and Brewer Jim Koch's great-great grandfather's mid-19th century original recipe and has evolved the brewing process to reduce filtration by adding a traditional German practice of biological acidification, resulting in a brighter, easier-drinking beer.

A smooth, German-style lager with slightly sweet roasted malts, notes of caramel, toffee, and a distinct noble hop character with subtle piney citrus. It ends with a crisp finish that makes you want another.

But most of Samuel Adams is not brewed in Boston or even Massachusetts. It's produced in the Keystone State. Boston Brewing ​has moved the “majority of beer production” to its Breinigsville, Pennsylvania, brewery, according to Daniel LaBert, the executive director of Brewers of Pennsylvania.

Koch, a sixth-generation brewer, used the same family recipe developed by his great-great-grandfather in the 1860s to brew Louis Koch Lager in St. Louis, Missouri.
