Primal's was the closest vessel that also possessed a transwarp drive, so the Axalon was sent to engage them.

In General. Despite having realistic flaws and making some mistakes, he makes up for them and ultimately lives up to being the pure-hearted paragon his namesake was. In deep contrast to Megatron, he's a benevolent boss that greatly cares about his team.
